BIOMETiC Ai
Artificial intelligence, with particular reference to the sub-fields of machine learning and deep learning, aims to create expert systems that makes predictions based on models trained with input data previously analyzed by specialists. BIOMETiC’s solutions include processing methods based on cutting edge AI/ML to leverage the possibility of the machine to mimic what an expert expects from the input.
BIOMETiC’s experience and know-how now dates back over 40 years. Our technical know-how, combined with artificial intelligence (Ai) since 1999, has enabled us to implement BIOMETiC Ai, our artificial intelligence platform, into e.g. the Q Eye Smart sorter. Consequently, we have been able to solve numerous problems regarding the external quality of fruits and vegetables.
Computed Tomography
A computed tomography scan, is a technique used to obtain detailed images of the internal features of an object. CT scans are obtained through multiple X-ray measurements, taken from different angles.
Our Mito uses CT to enable the full digital reconstruction and virtual anaylse of entire products in real time. Mito’s patented Computed Tomography technology offers significant advantages. These include fewer errors and waste, avoiding financial losses and complaints, and protecting the health of your consumers and your brand reputation.
X-ray
X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation. Carrying much higher energy than visible light, X-rays can pass through most materials, including food, fruit, and the human body. X-rays are used to generate images of the internal structures also of food products, fresh fruits.
BIOMETiC uses x-ray with solutions like Mito or Q Eye XP, the unique X-ray inspection system for fruit and vegetables in boxes. It performs final safety and internal quality checks and detects defects that often occur between storage and delivery processes.
Hyperspectral Imaging
Hyperspectral technology revolutionizes quality inspection by analyzing a broad spectrum of wavelengths to uncover details invisible to the human eye. This advanced, non-destructive method allows for precise assessments of internal characteristics, ensuring unparalleled accuracy in quality control.
At BIOMETiC, the Q Eye Spectro leverages this technology to deliver detailed internal quality assessments for applications like avocados and dates. By detecting key attributes such as ripeness, texture, and internal defects, Q Eye Spectro enables precise grading and sorting while optimizing efficiency and minimizing waste. Designed for producers focused on premium quality and operational excellence, it redefines standards in fruit inspection and quality assurance.
Spectroscopy
Spectroscopy is the field of study that measures and interprets the electromagnetic spectrum. Is the study of the absorption and emission of light and other radiation by matter. It involves the splitting of light or, more precisely, electromagnetic radiation into its constituent wavelengths (a spectrum), which is done in much the same way as a prism splits light into a rainbow of colors.
At BIOMETiC, the Q Eye Spectro uses spectroscopy technology to deliver precise internal quality checks for applications like onions. By detecting defects such as internal rot and others internal attributes, Q Eye Spectro ensures optimal sorting based on internal quality, guaranteeing the best produce, maximizing yield, and minimizing production costs and waste.
Stereoscopy
Binocular vision is the type of vision that enables the three-dimensional perception of the surrounding environment. Stereoscopic imaging is the digital equivalent of binocular vision, where depth is reconstructed by combining a pair of images of the same scene taken from a slightly different point of view.
BIOMETiC Q Eye Stereo use stereoscopy to obtain a digital reconstruction of three-dimensional scenes and objects, by combining this technology with Artificial Intelligence, Q Eye Stereo measures the diameter of fruits in the uppermost layer of each crate, to provide an accurate estimation and assess cooperatives produce’s quality and classification accurately.
Advanced in-house technology
CROMETiC Camera
The CROMETiC Camera is a high-speed image processing camera, in-house developed and proprietary CMOS sensors with full HD resolution and 600 frames per second.
The analysis is carried out by ensuring that each fruit or vegetable rotates 360° and that every part is scanned, including the calyx and steam areas.
